Field Service Electrician – Tower Cranes

About the role
Join a specialist field service team working on
tower cranes
nationwide. You'll handle diagnostics, repair and
erection/commissioning
on active sites. This is
pure field service
(not factory-based) with significant autonomy, problem-solving, and customer contact. You must be fully comfortable
working at height
.
Key responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair electrical faults on tower cranes (controls, drives, PLCs, sensors, cabling).
* Perform
erection, commissioning, inspections, testing and preventive maintenance
.
* Deliver call-outs/breakdowns and planned service within agreed SLAs.
* Read electrical schematics; complete accurate service reports.
* Liaise with site teams and coordinators; escalate issues promptly.
* Work safely: lock-out/tag-out, site rules, PPE; manage van stock and tools.
Must-haves
* Qualified Electrician
(Ireland-recognised or equivalent).
* Experience with tower cranes (Liebherr or similar).
* Knowledge of PLCs/VSDs, load/limit systems, and CAN bus.
* Work at Height, Safe Pass/CSCS, and MEWP
(or firm commitment to obtain during onboarding).
* Proven
field service
background (construction plant/cranes/heavy equipment).
* Strong fault-finding and methodical problem-solving under time pressure.
* Good English (spoken/written); full, clean driving licence; flexibility for travel/overtime.
Nice to have
* Experience commissioning/erecting tower cranes; familiarity with OEM diagnostic tools.
* Additional H&S/site tickets (Rigging/Slinging, Manual Handling, First Aid).
Training & development (Germany – OEM)
* OEM tower-crane training in Germany
with specialist engineers.
* Blended learning: in-person modules, eLearning/video tutorials, and hands-on practicals.
* Focus on diagnostics, commissioning, safe operation, and maintenance workflows with ongoing OEM resources.
