Key Engineer Role
As a Key Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing engineering activities on a specific construction project. Your responsibilities will vary and be agreed with the Project Manager on an ongoing basis.
* You will manage Site Safety in conjunction with the Safety Advisor.
* Manage Site QA in conjunction with the Mechanical Package Manager, including setting up, management and closing out of files.
* Familiarity with and management of Project Schedule in conjunction with other trades, Package Leads, consulting engineers and client requirements.
* Assist with the management of all costs associated with your package, including subcontractors.
* Manage material deliveries and goods receipting, Plant and Equipment, Variations and Valuations.
* Oversee day-to-day on-site operations.
* Manage subcontractor activities, including tracking progress against schedule and workforce levels.
* Ensure a weekly minute meeting with the subcontractor.
* Manage the In Progress snagging system to return weekly punch lists where applicable.
* Issue direct labour hours and subcontractor hours to time administrators for tracking centrally.
* Attend Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings and Handover Meetings.
* Close out all project items, including O & M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File – with support from the Mechanical package manager.
* Implement a weekly look ahead to ensure co-ordination with other trades.
* Issue internal weekly progress reports.
* Schedule and track material deliveries to correspond with the project schedule.
* Maintain a weekly project photographic diary.
Requirements
* Hold a 3rd level qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or Senior Trades qualification or equivalent.
* Have significant project engineering experience of 5 years+ with a mechanical contractor.
* Prior record of delivering small to medium mechanical projects (Commercial, Industrial, pharma, data centre type projects).
* Ability to walk down mechanical systems to ensure compliance with specifications.
* Experience developing technical submittals, completing technical reviews and assessments.
* Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures – awareness of the team, their strengths and weaknesses.
* Excellent communication/interpersonal skills to communicate effectively.
* Excellent record-keeping and administration skills.
* Leadership skills to lead and influence others.
* Process-driven approach focusing on EHS and Quality Work Management Systems and Processes.
* Mentor junior engineers and graduates.
