The Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Ordinary Member to the Board of Crawford Art Gallery.
Candidates wishing to apply must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience at the appropriately senior level in one or more of the following areas:
Capital Project Management
– Project experience of capital project management and an understanding of capital cash flow.
Technical and Sector Expertise
– Building development, construction, engineering, architecture, facilities management, or capital project management.
Strong knowledge of the full project lifecycle from concept and design through to delivery, commissioning, and post-completion operation.
Sustainable development and environmental responsibility
– Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable development practices and principles, including climate-resilient design, energy efficiency, environmental standards, and long-term asset sustainability, particularly as applied to public buildings, cultural institutions, or heritage environments, and the ability to advocate for these at Board and senior leadership level.
Strategic oversight and long-term organisational development
– Proven experience contributing to organisational strategy, transformation or long-term planning, including aligning infrastructure development and sustainability objectives with an organisation's mission, public mandate and future operating model.
Legal, regulatory and compliance frameworks
– Experience of statutory, regulatory and governance requirements, particularly in public sector or regulated environments, including oversight of risk management, health and safety, and compliance obligations associated with major capital works.
Culture, heritage and arts leadership with a commitment to equality and public value
– Experience within cultural, heritage, arts or creative sectors, nationally and/or internationally, alongside an understanding of the process of national cultural institutions during periods of change and redevelopment, combined with experience or demonstrable commitment to human rights, equality, inclusion and accessibility, ensuring public benefit and social impact in decision-making for cultural spaces and public buildings.
It is also desirable that candidates demonstrate evidence of experience in the following:
Senior-level experience in the governance, oversight, planning or delivery of large-scale capital projects, including building redevelopment, infrastructure or construction.
This should include experience of managing or overseeing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, public funding, procurement, risk, timelines and cost control.
Prior Board or subcommittee experience, particularly within the public sector, cultural institutions, charities or regulated organisations.
Public affairs and stakeholder engagement.
Experience engaging with Government departments, public bodies, funders, professional advisers or stakeholders at a senior level, including the ability to operate effectively in complex public governance and accountability environments.
Knowledge of the Irish language and other languages.
