Clinical Nurse Lead - Mental Health Services

Role overview: Psychiatric Nurses for the role of Clinical Nurse Lead to join the specialist inpatient Mental Health Service at Nua Healthcare.
Responsibilities

* Comply with responsibilities under the Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, and all related standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
* Ensure ICPs are up to date and services are delivered to high quality and safety standards.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
* Maintain the highest infection control standards as directed by policy and national best practice guidance.
* Work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Code of Professional Conduct; assess care needs; develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care; support the nursing team in this role; develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans with patients, carers, and other professionals.
* Complete unit rosters and ensure appropriate skill mix in each unit.
* Provide nursing assessments for patients admitted to the service.
* Lead the unit and support junior staff in clinical decision making.
* Ensure high standards of nursing practice in the application of clinical procedures and treatments, including medicines management.
* Maintain patients’ rights under the Mental Health Act.
* Lead in ensuring staff are aware of individual care plans and associated activities.
* Perform supervision and appraisals of junior staff.
* Take charge of the Centre in the absence of the Assistant Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing.
* Lead planning and preparation for MHC visits and inspections.
* Collaborate with outside agencies to ensure effective communication across services.
Qualifications and experience
* Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the NMBI.
* Minimum 3+ years post-qualification/registration psychiatric nursing experience.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the Health Act 2007, Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, and related standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
