Job Title: Construction Plant Fitter
About the Position:
The successful candidate will be responsible for routine maintenance and servicing of plant equipment and machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Developing and implementing a preventative maintenance programme across the entire plant site.
* Diagnosing and rectifying equipment breakdowns using check sheets and our central management system.
* Collaborating with external contractors to schedule work on site, ensuring all such work is fully approved in advance and completed to the required standards.
* Scheduling periodic testing of safety equipment and maintaining records through our maintenance platform.
* Ensuring the recycling and re-use of parts and materials where possible.
* Leading by example in promoting a safe working environment, adhering to company Health & Safety policies and procedures, reporting hazards and incidents, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Requirements:
* Ability to communicate effectively with operatives and managers to fault diagnose.
* Able to update knowledge and skills through training as required and demonstrate health & safety awareness.
* Good knowledge of welding and gas cutting equipment.
* Familiarity with a range of heavy plant equipment including crushers, screeners, static plants, excavators, loading shovels, road making equipment, pavers, rollers, and milling machines.
* Understanding of electrically powered machinery and appreciation of hydraulics, air, and electrically driven control systems.
* Proficiency in using hand tools associated with this industry.
* Full clean driver's license (class C an advantage).
* Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and spoken) and work independently or as part of a team to meet strict deadlines.
* Minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship experience in the heavy plant industry.
