Legal Counsel – Retail Energy & Technology

Contract: 4 months daily rate
We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our retail business. Our organisation is at the forefront of the energy transition, designing customer‑focused products and deploying technology to reduce emissions. The work is varied, high‑value and will directly influence business delivery, customer experience, and the wider economy.
Location
We operate a Flexible First working model, giving colleagues autonomy to work in the way that suits them best. You will, however, need to attend our Dublin office at least two days per week.
What will you do?
Provide expert legal advice to support Net Zero ambitions across:
Contracts for innovative energy and home services products, such as EV charging solutions, solar and heat pump installations, and micro‑generation tariffs.
Delivery of deep home retrofit projects through our approved supplier network and retrofit services offering.
Development of smart, connected home solutions using a range of energy‑management technologies.
Marketing, brand initiatives and sponsorship activities, including work involving external partners and digital campaigns.
Strategic partnerships with major organisations to create exclusive customer offers and loyalty rewards.
Support wider legal and commercial activity including:
Assisting Senior Legal Counsel on major commercial projects such as outsourcing arrangements and IT infrastructure agreements.
Supporting dispute resolution, including escalated customer complaints and litigation in lower courts.
Monitoring regulatory change—researching and reporting on developments affecting the energy sector.
Developing broader expertise through participation in:
Company secretarial and governance activities
Collaboration with UK & Ireland legal colleagues on cross‑market initiatives
Maintaining and updating legal templates, precedents, and internal guidance.
Who we’re looking for:
A qualified lawyer holding an Irish practising certificate, with strong post‑qualification experience (in‑house experience beneficial).
Strong background in commercial law, with proven ability to draft and negotiate contracts.
Commercially astute, with experience delivering complex or high‑profile matters in fast‑paced environments.
Knowledge of the energy sector and adjacent areas (e.g., consumer law, data protection, technology) is advantageous.
Able to assess risk and deliver pragmatic, business‑focused advice within regulatory frameworks.
Comfortable working independently, supporting senior team members, and supervising paralegals.
Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills.
Effective at building stakeholder relationships and open to innovative working methods, including AI tools.
Adaptable, proactive, and committed to continuous learning.
