Job Description:
Senior Physiotherapist - Respiratory & Medical Inpatients
Permanent Contract, Full Time Hours.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assess, plan, implement, and review treatment programs for respiratory and medical physiotherapy patients, managing workload appropriately.
* Set goals collaboratively with patients, families, and team members, utilizing clinical expertise.
* Serve as a clinical exemplar for physiotherapy care.
* Make autonomous decisions to support patient health and promote continuity of care.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning and care transfers.
* Advise and support colleagues on clinical practice issues.
* Maintain and audit clinical records as per guidelines, providing data for accreditation standards.
* Communicate assessment results and treatment plans effectively.
* Participate in outreach clinics, meetings, and multidisciplinary sessions.
* Coordinate with GPs and community staff regarding patient care.
* Assess medication effectiveness in consultation with physicians.
* Operate within hospital policies, maintaining standards and participating in quality assurance.
* Contribute to departmental committees and record work statistics.
* Uphold confidentiality, ethics, and legal standards.
* Comply with professional conduct rules set by CORU and the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapy.
* Participate in on-call and weekend rotations, maintaining competency.
* Undertake additional responsibilities as appropriate.
Eligibility Criteria:
* Bachelor or B.Sc. in Physiotherapy from an Irish university, or equivalent qualification, or registration with CORU.
* Proof of statutory registration required, with annual renewal.
* Minimum three years post-qualification experience, including in respiratory/critical care and general medical care, especially for elderly and mobility-impaired patients.
* Relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Availability for on-call and weekend work as required.
