Job Description Automation Engineer – DeltaV (Pharmaceutical) Horizon Controls Group are looking to hire an experienced Automation Engineer (DeltaV) to support large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

About the Role You will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of Emerson DeltaV control systems within a GMP pharmaceutical setting.
The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure systems are compliant, robust, and aligned with operational and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities Design, configure, and maintain Emerson DeltaV DCS systems Develop and modify control strategies, batch logic, alarms, and HMI graphics Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities (FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ) Ensure systems comply with GMP, GAMP 5, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements Troubleshoot and resolve automation and control system issues Provide automation support to manufacturing, utilities, and process equipment Generate and review technical documentation, including specifications and validation deliverables Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and system upgrades Liaise with vendors, integrators, and internal stakeholders Required Experience Skills Proven experience as an Automation / Controls Engineer in the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector Strong hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV (configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades) Solid understanding of GMP environments and regulated manufacturing systems Experience with batch processes and/or continuous manufacturing systems Familiarity with validation lifecycle and documentation standards Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team Desirable (Nice to Have) Experience with DeltaV Batch, Historian, or advanced control modules Exposure to utilities systems (WFI, Clean Steam, CIP/SIP, HVAC) Previous involvement in site expansions, tech transfers, or system upgrades Knowledge of MES or integration with higher-level systems
