Job Description
The Safety and Risk Manager oversees the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of a safe working environment compliant with relevant regulations and industry standards. This role is a fixed-term contract position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct risk assessments and machine safety evaluations across all site operations to identify potential hazards.
2. Collaborate with the team in managing EHS aspects of new projects and programs.
3. Provide expert advice to site management on national and EU safety legislation, machinery safety standards, and best practices.
4. Review and approve equipment modifications from an EHS perspective during change management processes.
5. Offer technical safety input to design and construction of new facilities, automation lines, and process equipment.
6. Develop and implement corporate safety systems focusing on process safety management, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, accident reporting, and change control.
7. Establish and implement occupational health programs at the site.
8. Lead investigations into EHS incidents/accidents, recommend corrective actions, and drive their implementation.
9. Participate in the development of site security protocols and procedures.
10. Take part in pre-start-up safety reviews, internal auditing, site safety inspections, and walkdowns.
11. Assist in creating safe systems of work for manufacturing and maintenance operations.
12. Support key EHS initiatives aligned with industry best practices and deliver relevant training to personnel.
13. Encourage a positive safety culture through employee engagement and stakeholder interactions.
14. Achieve effective EHS KPIs for the site and maintain regulatory compliance.
15. Support emergency response planning and business continuity efforts.
16. Align company quality programs with site goals.
17. Maintain ongoing compliance with GMP in practices, event recording, and processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a GMP production environment, preferably in medical, pharma, or technology sectors.
* Degree qualification in Automation, Electrical, or Process Engineering (ideal).
* Level 6 Certificate in Health & Safety from an accredited institution or Tech IOSH certification, or equivalent experience in process safety.
* Ergonomic, chemical, and occupational noise assessment experience is highly desirable.
