Trauma-Informed Care Specialist
This role presents an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals to lead a new service focused on delivering holistic, trauma-informed care for young people aged 13-17.
The team will foster positive attachments and provide a supportive environment through relationship building and collaboration with other professionals.
As a Trauma-Informed Care Specialist, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and support. Your key responsibilities include:
* Participating in the development and implementation of comprehensive care plans that address the unique needs of each young person.
* Promoting the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person, ensuring their voices are heard and valued.
* Encouraging attendance at school, training centres, medical and clinical appointments, and supporting access to education and vocational training.
* Liaising with parents, family members, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
* Engaging in age-appropriate play and activities with each child/young person, fostering positive relationships and building trust.
* Preparing well-balanced meals and undertaking various aspects of home management, ensuring a safe and healthy living environment.
* Attending team meetings and reporting to the Team Lead on matters affecting service delivery, providing regular updates and insights.
* Being accountable for resources spent and making written and verbal reports on the progress of young people, demonstrating transparency and accountability.
* Undertaking ongoing professional training and development, staying up-to-date with best practices and research in trauma-informed care.
* Making informed decisions when on shift and taking overall responsibility for the residential centre, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all residents.
Requirements:
* Minimum three years' experience in a children's or families' service or similar environment.
* Registration in the relevant professional register or eligibility for registration.
