Role Purpose
The Mechanical Craftsperson is responsible for maintaining, improving and increasing the reliability of plant and equipment at Midleton Distillery and Dungourney sites. The role supports safe, compliant and efficient operations through the delivery of planned, preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance, reliability-based maintenance practices and accurate use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (PEMAC).
The role operates in accordance with agreed engineering procedures, safety standards and collective agreements and forms part of a 24-hour maintenance support model.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out mechanical maintenance activities in a safe manner and in line with Quality, Safety, Environment (QSE) and Engineering policies, procedures and standards
* Perform planned and preventative maintenance as part of the site reliability and asset care programme
* Troubleshoot and fault-find mechanical issues within plant and process equipment
* Accurately record maintenance activities in the CMMS (PEMAC), ensuring data integrity and traceability
* Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, downtime reduction and asset performance
* Participate in the on-call roster and provide maintenance cover in line with the annualised hours agreement
* Comply fully with control of work processes, Engineering SOPs and Permit to Work requirements
* Participate in engineering projects, installations and commissioning activities as required
* Maintain a safe, organised working environment in line with housekeeping and asset care standards
* Contribute to operational team improvement activities and site initiatives
* Support annual shutdown activities as required
Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
Essential Requirements
* Recognised mechanical trade qualification (or equivalent)
* Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment
* Ability to carry out mechanical maintenance safely and in line with site procedures
* Experience troubleshooting and fault-finding mechanical equipment
* Ability to work as part of a shift-based and on-call maintenance team
* Strong commitment to safety, quality and compliance standards
Technical / Functional Skills
* Planned, preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance
* Use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), including job logging and reporting (e.g. PEMAC or equivalent)
* Mechanical systems maintenance, including rotating equipment
* Understanding of reliability-based maintenance and asset care principles
* Fault diagnosis and root cause analysis
* Participation in equipment installation, commissioning and shutdown activities
* Knowledge of permit to work and control of work systems
Desirable / Advantageous Skills
* Experience in a distillery, food, beverage or regulated manufacturing environment
* Exposure to pumps, grain handling or similar process equipment
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
* Understanding of cost, efficiency and downtime drivers in manufacturing
