OverviewCentre Manager/Person in charge, Listowel Respite Service (39 hrs per week) – Fixed Term, Full-Time (39 hours per week) for 2 years. Location: Listowel, Co Kerry. Roster: Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 09:00 – 17:30 / Thurs 09:00 – 16:30. Brook Lodge provides respite to 18 individuals with a moderate intellectual disability, with Autism. The role leads the management and development of the service in line with KPFA policies.ResponsibilitiesSupport the overall day-to-day management of the Service.Lead, motivate and supervise the staff team effectively.Manage available resources within the allocated budget in consultation with the Assistant Director of Services.Support staff to train and upskill in models appropriate to ID/Autism Services.Ensure the provision of a person centred service to those supported by KPFA.Act as the key communicator to all stakeholders (staff, residents, management, family and other service providers).Develop relationships and linkages with community groups and other disability agencies.Ensure staff work in a coordinated manner in the best interests of each person.Act as the Person in Charge in accordance with HIQA Regulations.Perform other duties as appropriate to the post as assigned.Essential CriteriaLevel 7 or higher qualification in Social Care, Nursing (RNID preferred), or another relevant health/social care discipline (Level 8 desirable); andFormal management qualification in health or social care (minimum Level 6, e.g., Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Leadership or Management); andAt least three years’ management or supervisory experience in the sector, including supervision of staff and volunteers.Demonstrate evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the role.For Nursing Applicants: Must be registered with the NMBI in the relevant division and maintain active annual registration.For Social Care Applicants: Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date hold or are eligible for registration on the CORU Social Care Workers register.For Health Professionals: Must be registered with the relevant registration board under CORU and maintain active registration.Proven ability to lead and support teams; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; flexibility.Good understanding of HR processes including grievances, disciplinaries, people management, communication and engagement.Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office and information systems.Knowledge of statutory regulations, Health Act 2007, and the role of a person in charge.Experience of promoting community presence and problem solving; ability to support individuals with specific clinical support requirements and to work with written protocols and guidelines.Experience using alternative communication methods.Other RequirementsFull driving licence with access to a road-worthy car insured for business purposes.Right to work in Ireland; provision of supporting documentation during recruitment.Highly DesirablePost-Graduate Diploma or Masters Degree in a relevant discipline.Senior management experience in Disability Services or related sector.Evidence of relevant employment experience clearly detailed in CV; verification of service form completed before start date; incremental credit as applicable.CanvassingAny attempt to canvass or influence candidates or staff will result in disqualification.Employee BenefitsSick Pay Scheme, Paid Maternity Leave, Flexible Working, Employee Assistance Programme, Pension Scheme, Parking (Site Dependent) Generous Annual Leave, Access to income continuance scheme, Discounted Health Insurance and Access to training.How to Apply / Informal QueriesFor informal queries, contact the Assistant Director of Services at 064-6632742 or dorothy.pryce@kpfa.ie.(A panel may be formed from which future vacancies for the Listowel Respite Service may be filled up to 31 December 2025.)Kerry Parents and Friends Association is an equal opportunities employer.
