Job Description
The Senior House Officer Paediatrics is a medical role that involves participating in the provision of care to patients as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The role requires diagnosing and treating patients, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, and communicating effectively with them.
The NCHD's standard duties and responsibilities include:
* Participating in the provision of medical care to patients;
* Diagnosing and treating patients;
* Ensuring the safety and well-being of patients;
* Assessing patients on admission and/or discharge;
* Writing detailed reports in the case notes;
* Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests;
* Initiating and monitoring treatment;
* Communicating effectively with patients and clients;
* Further progressing knowledge of diagnosis and management;
* Participating in multidisciplinary clinical audit and proactive risk management;
* Co-operating with arrangements to verify contractual commitments;
* Co-operating with measures to ensure compliance with the European Working Time Directive and related Irish legislation;
* Co-operating with investigations, enquiries or audit relating to the provision of health services;
* Complying with statutory and regulatory requirements, agreed training principles, corporate policies and procedures, and human resource policies and procedures;
* Attending induction training;
* Performing other duties as required by the supervising Consultant / Clinical Director / Employer;
Additional duties and responsibilities related to this post may be set out in the job description as issued by the Employer. The NCHD is entitled during their employment to regular review of their performance, including MET/Research performance, by and together with the designated supervisory Consultant / Clinical Director / Head of Academic Department.
