Most underwriters spend their careers managing someone else's book.
This is your chance to build your own.
A global specialty MGA — backed by one of the world's leading insurance organisations — is expanding its Professional Indemnity operation into Ireland and needs a Senior Development Underwriter to lead it from Dublin.
Not inherit it. Not maintain it. Build it.
What this means for you
You’ll be the first PI underwriter on the ground in Dublin, with full underwriting authority delegated from day one. You’ll shape the appetite, set the pricing approach, define the broker panel and — as the book scales — recruit and lead your own team. The culture of this operation in Ireland? That’s yours to set.
And you won’t be doing it without support. The infrastructure is already in place: actuarial backing, established IT and e-trade platforms, claims handling via a leading Irish law firm, and a Dublin office ready to go. This is a properly capitalised, well‑resourced expansion — not a leap into the unknown dressed up as an opportunity.
The numbers

Discretionary performance bonus 8%employer pension contributionPrivate medical — full coverLife assurance 25 days annual leave
The PI portfolio
Open market across accountants, engineers, architects, surveyors and design & construct. Broad appetite, underserved market, and a UK parent book of £25m GWP that is regarded as one of the more disciplined PI operations in the market. You’re not starting from zero credibility — you’re starting from a strong platform.
Who this suits
You’re a senior PI underwriter with full authority, strong Dublin or wider Irish broker relationships, and genuine commercial ambition.
You see a blank page as an opportunity, not a risk. You’re energised by independence, not unsettled by it. You want to look back in five years and point to something you built.
If you've been waiting for the right greenfield role — one with real backing, real infrastructure and real leadership potential — this is it.
