The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and managing a team of engineers to deliver high-quality products, systems, or services. This role combines people leadership, technical oversight, and delivery accountability, ensuring engineering work aligns with business objectives, quality standards, and timelines. People Leadership & Team Management: Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, fostering high performance and engagement. Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, goal setting, and career development planning. Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning within the engineering team. Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Project & Delivery Management: Plan and manage engineering workloads, resourcing, and priorities. Partner with Product, Operations, Quality, and other stakeholders to deliver on commitments. Track delivery against timelines, quality, cost, and performance metrics. Address risks, dependencies, and escalations proactively. Driving the use of the QMS for effective root cause and corrective actions. Strategy & Continuous Improvement: Drive a Continuous Improvement culture within the department that drives Overall Equipment Efficiency for the plant. Drive process improvements, tooling enhancements, and efficiency initiatives. Champion innovation and adoption of new technologies or methods where appropriate. Develop a strategy around relevant Asset replacement where appropriate. Technical & Operational Oversight: Drive preventative maintenance best practice, maximising greater efficiency. Developing the appropriate leading KPIs to support the site's overall metrics. Drive a team-based approach to problem-solving with the other site functions. Ensure relevant expenditure is within target budget requirements. Fully support internal and external audits relevant to the department. Continually review functional effectiveness and take appropriate action. Ideal Candidate: Degree (level 7 or above) in Engineering (preferably Polymer / Mechanical). Lean / Six Sigma qualifications with strong problem-solving skills. Typically 5+ years in a similar Role Proven experience managing and developing engineering teams Strong technical background relevant to the engineering function Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills Ability to balance technical depth with people management and delivery focus Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability Experience working in cross-functional environments
