OverviewSenior Research Fellow (Evidence Synthesis Methodology Lead) in Evidence Synthesis based in the Centre for Health Research Methodology at University of Galway, Ireland. This full-time Specific Purpose position is located within the Centre for Health Research Methodology (CHRM) of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS).The position is available from 1 Nov 2025 to 30 Nov 2030 (61 months).CHRM is renowned for its dynamism and contributions to evidence synthesis and randomised trial methodology. The Centre hosts HRB-Trials Methodology Research Network (HRB-TMRN), Evidence Synthesis Ireland (ESI), and Cochrane Ireland, and engages in public engagement initiatives to demystify healthcare research and improve access to clear health information.Example projects in these domains include The People's Trial and related public engagement activities.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a specific programme of research and scholarship in evidence synthesis, defining objectives and delivering original, high-impact research.Play a leading role in regional, national and international collaborative research projects, creating and establishing research programmes.Develop innovative methods and techniques in evidence synthesis that advance the field.Drive research projects and outputs, independently initiating studies to be carried out by individuals or teams.Collaborate with international teams to plan and execute evidence syntheses, maintaining expertise in current methodologies.Lead evidence syntheses across diverse study designs and conduct primary synthesis methodology research.Qualifications and profileThe ideal candidate will have an established track record of contributing to securing significant research funding, demonstrated leadership of regional, national and international collaborative synthesis projects, and sufficient specialist knowledge to act as a research leader in evidence synthesis. This role requires extensive experience and expertise in evidence synthesis methodology and proven leadership on an international level.Salary and termsSalary: Research Fellow salary scale €80,149 – €86,014 per annum (subject to project funding and pro rata for part-time contracts). The default position is point 1 on the salary scale, with potential for appointment higher on the scale where prior equivalent experience is demonstrated, subject to funding limits.Closing date for receipt of applications: 17:00 (Irish Time) on 24 September, 2025.
