Print editions are published each Tuesday providing a full range of news including courts, councils, and community, and the Nationalist group's websites are updated throughout the day.
Job Description
Applications are open for a Sub-editor to work across The Nationalist titles.
The ideal candidate should have print and digital experience in copyediting for consistent publication style and values, in line with both daily online and weekly print deadlines.
The successful candidate will also play a part in planning, templating, commissioning, and designing the layout of pages and the placement and captioning of images as well as managing the titles' presence on social media.
The work will involve weekend hours and some evening work. This is primarily a remote working role with the primary office location in Carlow.
Desired Skills And Experience
* Experience checking stories for accuracy, spelling, grammar and errors
* Ability to revise stories and layout to match the house style and publishing platform (print, digital, socials)
* Have knowledge of copyright and libel laws
* Understanding of how to maximise the reach of stories for a digital audience, as well as how to monitor and drive online traffic
