Job Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with strong Azure experience to join our IT team. This role is ideal for someone who has advanced experience managing hybrid infrastructure and delivering high-level technical support while leading on cloud-based projects and migrations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, security, and optimisation of our on-premises and cloud-based systems – with a particular emphasis on Microsoft Azure. This position is based onsite five days a week in our Ballsbridge office.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Leading the administration, support, and optimisation of our hybrid IT environment (Azure, Microsoft 365, on-prem Windows Servers).
• Managing and maintaining Azure Active Directory, Azure VMs, storage accounts, virtual networks, and other Azure services.
• Developing and enforcing IT policies and best practices, particularly around cloud governance and security.
• Overseeing projects related to cloud migrations, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
• Ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards, applying updates, and proactively addressing vulnerabilities.
• Maintaining identity and access management systems using Azure AD, Group Policy, MFA, and conditional access.
• Providing 3rd-line technical support, resolving escalated issues, and performing root cause analysis.
• Mentoring and providing guidance to junior IT staff and support technicians.
• Monitoring system performance and availability and implementing improvements as needed.
• Maintaining accurate documentation for system architecture, configurations, and processes.
• Working collaboratively with internal departments and external vendors to support business objectives.
Skills and Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred); relevant certifications and experience will also be considered.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a System Administrator, with at least 2 years in a senior or cloud-focused role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS and PaaS services).
• Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Intune, Defender for Endpoint, and other Microsoft cloud technologies.
• Familiarity with virtualisation platforms (VMware or Hyper-V).
• Proven ability to manage infrastructure projects and drive cloud adoption strategies.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
