Process Development EngineerContract Type:Contractor (Onsite)Location:Galway, IrelandRole Overview:We are seeking a skilledProcess Development Engineerto support the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes in collaboration with R&D and production teams. The successful candidate will help ensure the seamless and efficient transition of new products into full-scale production, while maintaining a focus on quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.Key Responsibilities:Technical Leadership:Provide expert-level technical support across process and product technologies.Lead efforts in process design, optimisation, validation, and troubleshooting.Offer mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.Vendor and Equipment Collaboration:Work with internal teams and external suppliers to develop, modify, or source manufacturing equipment, tooling, and materials.Participate in equipment selection and qualification activities.Process Optimisation & Problem Solving:Apply Six Sigma methodologies (DFSS/DMAIC) to improve and troubleshoot manufacturing processes.Plan and execute experiments to assess process capabilities and identify enhancements.Interpret test data and convert insights into actionable process improvements.Process Introduction & Documentation:Oversee installation, calibration, risk assessments, and validation of new equipment and processes.Prepare and manage documentation aligned with quality and regulatory standards.Utilise Lean tools to drive efficiency and reduce process waste.Validation & Compliance:Lead validation activities, including writing and executing IQ, OQ, PQ, TMV protocols and reports.Use PFMEAs and industry best practices to ensure compliance and robust validation execution.Project Coordination:Support or lead process validation builds and manage the reporting and communication of results.Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project delivery.Team Supervision:Provide day-to-day oversight and technical development support for one or more technicians.Quality & Safety Focus:Promote a culture of safety and quality compliance across all activities.Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.Help build a strong awareness of quality responsibilities across the team.Qualifications & Skills:Minimum Level 8 degree in Engineering or related discipline.SolidWorks experience is a significant advantage.Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.Strong understanding of validation protocols and regulatory compliance.Proven ability to analyse data, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
