Thermal Engineer for Emerging Technologies
">
Mbryonics is at the forefront of free space optical communications. Our product portfolio covers a wide range of emerging technologies from advanced optical systems to photonic integrated circuits and embedded software solutions. Our optical communications systems are integrated and deployed in satellite and terrestrial communications systems.
">
The work is exciting and groundbreaking, involving some of the most challenging engineering on the planet. As part of our expansion, we are seeking a motivated Thermal Engineer to join our group.
">
Main Responsibilities:
">
">
* Become a key member of the wider engineering team and contribute to delivering Mbryonics' ambitious goals focused on optical communications links for deployment in LEO.
">
* Apply the ANSYS suite or similar products daily to build structural and thermal simulation models for various types of optical payload systems and component levels.
">
* Aid and lead the implementation of Vibration, Shock, and TVAC testing regimes to validate simulation models for precise prediction of payload thermal management.
">
* Determine materials choice, design improvements, and coatings choices for control of critical operational parameters such as dimensional stability and optical surface properties.
">
* Perform modal and thermo-mechanical analysis to determine stress, fatigue states, dynamic couplings, and thermal gradients.
">
* Implement continued development of engineering practices and procedures within a blossoming start-up environment.
">
* Develop novel solutions for and provide structural and thermal feedback on modelled mechanical systems through standard and innovative approaches.
">
* Be proactive and consistently help to progress product development in a multidisciplinary environment.
">
* Assist with enhancing the team's capabilities while thriving on setting and achieving your own mission deadlines.
">
* Prototype building, testing, documenting, and developing processes, and producing support documentation.
">
* Work with managers and supervisors to implement quality measures and standards, with an ultimate goal of scaling up to high volume manufacturing.
">
">
Required Technical Skills and Qualifications:
">
">
* 2+ years of thermal, mechanical, aerospace, optical, or related engineering field experience.
">
* Good knowledge of thermal analysis tools such as ESATAN-TMS & Systema-Thermica, as well as knowledge of space thermal control engineering.
">
* Understanding of early stage prototyping and product development.
">
* Spacecraft systems knowledge.
">
* Experience with environmental testing for space hardware.
">
">
Desired Technical Skills and Qualifications:
">
">
* Fluency with ANSYS or similar package.
">
* Familiarity with MAIT and product/spacecraft integration, including mechanical, thermal, and electrical interfacing.
">
* Knowledge of or keen interest in the space sector.
">
* Actively engaged in the field of thermal/mechanical engineering and continuous professional development.
">
* Comfortable with both working alone and collaborating as part of a team.
">
* Leverages core ethical values, diversity, and inclusion in work practices.
">
* Proven problem-solving abilities with an interest in becoming a decision maker in mechanical engineering activities.
">
* Knowledge and interest in multidisciplinary analysis, software engineering, and numerical methods would be considered an asset.
