Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Commercial Manager to lead the commercial team and oversee the financial and contractual management of construction projects.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will manage cost control, contract administration, procurement, and commercial performance across multiple developments. This position would also suit a Senior Quantity Surveyor seeking to step into a leadership role and take on greater responsibility within a progressive and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all commercial functions across construction projects, including cost planning, budgeting, and contract management.
* Oversee tender preparation, valuations, and final accounts.
* Manage procurement, subcontractor, and supplier negotiations to ensure value for money.
* Drive financial forecasting, cost reporting, and cash flow management.
* Provide strategic commercial advice and identify risks and opportunities to maximise project profitability.
* Negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring compliance and timely resolution of any disputes.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure effective project delivery.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors.
* Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
* Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice within the commercial team.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline.
* SCSI or similar professional qualification preferred.
* Proven experience managing large-scale residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
* Background working with Tier 1 contractors or equivalent large construction firms.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts, cost control, procurement, and risk management.
* Excellent negotiation, leadership, and team management skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
* Full, clean driving licence required.
