Following our recent expansion, we seek a conscientious, detail oriented Health and Safety Officer to join our team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a key role in the oversight and management of safety, health and welfare throughout the company.

Key responsibilities
Health & Safety Duties:
- Ensure compliance with all statutory health, safety, and welfare obligations,
- Maintain and continuously improve EH&S performance, including but not limited to adherence with ISO 45001 and 14001 standards.
- Review, develop, implement and monitor health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct and document hazard identification and risk assessments for facilities, equipment, and activities.
- Ensure that appropriate PPE is provided and correctly used by employees.
- Conduct regular in-house audits, inspections, and accident investigations.
- Conduct safety related visits to our client sites in accordance with agreed schedules.
- Complete RAMs as required to support the Site team.
- Ensure that all equipment undergoes statutory inspection, examination, and testing.
- Assist in managing health, safety, and welfare-related maintenance of relevant equipment.
- Organise and deliver health and safety training and inductions to employees and contractors, identifying additional training needs where applicable.
- Ensure that all health and safety incidents, including near-misses, are reported, investigated, and effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, near misses and safety inspections.
- Act as the first point of contact for health and safety-related matters.
- Promote a proactive safety conscious culture through awareness campaigns, toolbox talks etc.
- Identify suitable measures to enhance health and safety, tailored to each department and work closely with department heads when delivering them.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and with our external H&S consultant as needed.
- Regularly test the effectiveness of emergency procedures at suitable intervals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend corrective actions where necessary
- Assist in selecting and on-boarding contractors, including pre-qualification, review and approval of contractor method statements and risk assessments, induction, monitoring, and supervision.
- Performing any other duties related to the management of safety, health, and welfare as reasonably required by management.
General:
- Develop and maintain awareness of industry trends, health and safety requirements and the International (IEC), British (BS), European (EN) and other standards which apply to our business.
- Contribute to a collaborative and innovative working environment.
- Deliver duties in a professional, with confidentiality and discretion.
- Complete all training as required for your role.
- Support as needed if requested to carry out other duties within the business.
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or Degree level qualification in Health and Safety is essential.
- Min. 2 years working in a Health and Safety role in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous of conducting audits and inspections to monitor health and safety compliance.
- Previous experience in conducting incident investigations and 'Root Cause Analysis' in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience in formulating, implementing and revising Health and Safety documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Committed, resilient professional who shows integrity and drive in everything they do.
- Fluent in English and eligible to work in Ireland.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Previous experience of working in the switchgear, electrical or power industry.
- Basic understanding of switchgear systems, installation, testing, and commissioning processes.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and best practices, and familiarity with international standards and regulations in the electrical industry.
- Familiarity with project management software e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheets etc.
- Salary negotiable depending on experience.
- Based primarily onsite in our HQ in Rathcoole, Dublin. Travel to client sites may be required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed to meet deadlines or respond to issues.
