I am partnering with a client of mine who is an award winning and market-leading smart grid technology and services company in Ireland with a global presence actively participating in the electricity market to provide valuable services that help support the reliability of the power grid.
They are looking for a new Market Operations Manager to join the team where you will be responsible for managing the portfolio in Ireland. They need someone with experience in capacity bid preparation and an in-depth understanding of the Irish electricity market.
The day to day role will involve the management of interactions with the electricity market operator, transmission system operator, distribution system operator, and other stakeholders, both internal and external to the company, to ensure the successful onboarding of additional capacity to the company’s demand response portfolio and the optimal utilisation of existing capacity.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintaining an awareness of and working towards timelines relating to the company’s activities in the electricity market
* Preparation and submission of regulatory and market related documentation, applications, auction submissions, and tender responses required to ensure that the company’s objectives are met
* Coordinating with the company’s internal teams to ensure that clients are engaged, and equipment is installed, commissioned, and tested to meet relevant market timelines
* Managing the registration of, de-registration of, and modifications to electricity market units as required by the company
* Preparation and submission of pre-testing documentation, compliance testing and market entry
* Effectively handle day-to-day queries from regulators and system operators, preparing reports and analyses in responses, including financial insights
* Supporting other business units in the development of their strategies
* Present detailed market insights back to internal stakeholders through discussions, reports and presentations.
Requirements
* Previous experience in the electricity industry in Ireland
* Knowledge and experience of the Irish grid connections
* Strong communication skills and commercial understanding when dealing with clients/stakeholders
* Experience managing capacity contracts in the Irish electricity sector
* Strong analytical and mathematical skills
* Background in applied maths, applied sciences or physics would be beneficial
