Activity Coordinator

Kiltipper Woods Care Centre, a purpose-built centre established in 2004, is expanding our team and seeking an Activity Coordinator.

Our multidisciplinary team provides a range of specialist care services including care of the older person, the younger person with a disability, people with dementia, step‑down care, convalescence, and rehabilitation services. Kiltipper Woods Care Centre also provides outpatient rehabilitation and wellness therapies through our physiotherapy and hydrotherapy clinic.


Role Overview

In this role, you will plan and deliver engaging daily activities that reflect residents' interests and promote well‑being. You will keep programmes and information up to date, encourage participation, and support residents.


Key Responsibilities

* Organise and coordinate activities for active daily living that will maintain interest and progression over time.
* Meet residents, learn their interests and preferences, and encourage them to attend activities.
* Consult with residents about the activities programme and respond to their wishes where practical and appropriate.
* Be proactive in forward‑planning events such as national and festive celebrations.
* Establish links with the local community and encourage cross‑generational activities.
* Research new ideas and keep up to date with developments in activities for older people.
* Assist with producing the monthly activities bulletin and newsletter in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and ensure it is circulated to all residents.
* Ensure the activities programme reflects the wide range of individual needs, abilities, and preferences, providing a diverse programme that caters for everyone.


Requirements

* Previous experience working in a care environment or in care of the older person within a residential care setting.
* QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent, or Level 5 Applied Social Care.
* Knowledge of Dementia Care and Palliative Care (desirable).
* Good knowledge of the HIQA Standards.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* An intuitive knowledge of the interests and needs of older people.
* A ‘can‑do’ problem‑solving attitude coupled with organisational skills.
* Teamwork approach and a flexible attitude.
* A commitment to undertake further training.
