Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator with a strong background in structured cabling systems to join our expanding team in Dublin. This role will focus on delivering accurate and competitive estimates for structured cabling and low voltage infrastructure projects across a variety of commercial and enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of cabling standards, design specifications, and pricing models for both new installations and retrofit projects. You will work closely with the sales, design, and project delivery teams to ensure quotations are both technically and commercially sound.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for structured cabling and low voltage electrical works, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fibre optics, and related containment systems.
* Interpret drawings, specifications, and scope documents to identify materials, labour, and equipment requirements.
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and up-to-date product information.
* Conduct site surveys when required to assess project complexity and logistical constraints.
* Collaborate with the commercial team to prepare tender submissions and respond to RFQs/RFPs.
* Maintain and update a pricing database and estimation tools for improved accuracy and efficiency.
* Provide technical input and value engineering options during the estimation process.
* Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., ISO, BICSI, TIA/EIA).
Key Requirements
* Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an estimator in the electrical or structured cabling industry.
* In-depth knowledge of structured cabling systems, including copper and fibre infrastructure.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, floor plans, and schematics.
* Strong working knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel), estimation software, and AutoCAD or similar tools.
* Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
* Familiarity with Irish construction and building standards.
* Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
* Full driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites as required.
