Summary job description
This post will oversee the development, production, installation and hand over of our heritage interpretation, museum exhibition and attraction projects. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, wider project design teams and other stakeholders in a proactive and responsive way, taking the initiative where necessary and never being afraid to ask for help.
Your work will span project and production management, tendering contracts, co-ordinating and managing design colleagues and specialist contractors, and keeping projects on time and budget. You will be supported and mentored by our Senior Project Manager and Managing Director.
You will advise on costs and specifications during the planning and development stage, network with clients and other industry professionals, and help to develop our tender proposals and win new business.
Level of experience
We are looking for a candidate at an early or mid stage in their career who wants to develop their skills and with a strong desire to learn. The final Job Description and any related training needs will be finalised with the successful candidate.
Working internationally
We undertake design and consultancy projects in the UK, Ireland, Europe the Middle East and China. A valid passport and a willingness to work overseas is a requirement of the post.
This post can be Republic of Ireland or UK-based.
Start date
To be agreed with the successful applicant in c. January 2026.
Location
Many of our staff work from home and this will be an option for the successful candidate.
Assistance with relocation costs is an option depending on the circumstances.
Job Description - Project and Production Manager
Main responsibilities of the post (training will be provided where necessary)
You will be responsible for the delivery of projects to our clients' requirements by:
* Carrying out Project and Production Management duties through all design stages.
* Providing costings and specifications.
* Traveling for meetings and site visits.
* Attending commissioning, design team and project progress meetings, assisting with the agenda and recording and issuing minutes as needed.
* Organising and hosting Zoom and Teams meetings.
* Using AI tools to work efficiently.
* Project planning and timetabling, including preparing methodologies and programmes in various formats.
* Providing creative input to the design process and potential solutions.
* Considering accessibility, equality, diversity and inclusion to help us deliver better outcomes for our clients and their visitors.
* Preparing tender documents for contractor work packages, assessing tender returns, preparing tender reports and issuing Purchase Orders and contracts.
* Undertaking the financial control of projects.
* Assisting with the selection of appropriate materials and specifications.
* Commissioning and reviewing production samples and drawings.
* Project managing and co-ordinating the content creation process.
* Checking artwork production proofs and other content.
* Proving input to project Risk Registers.
* Overseeing project delivery, installation and snagging, including the preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
* Keeping relevant health and safety skills and training up to date.
* Communicating effectively with clients, communities and stakeholders at all times.
* Identifying and following opportunities for obtaining new work, including networking, attending occasional conferences and meeting prospective clients.
Requirements of the post
* A degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
* Experience of exhibition project and production management.
* A passion for delivering great results for your clients.
* Experience of the heritage or tourism sector, or a demonstrable interest in heritage and culture.
* Budgeting and financial management skills.
* Ability to work on your own initiative and under pressure.
* Excellent presentation and communication skills.
* An organised and efficient self-starter with a systematic but flexible approach.
* A 'people' person with excellent collaboration and team skills.
* Prior experience of or a willingness to undertake training in Health and Safety regulations, procedure and practice.
* A full passport with no restrictions.
* A willingness to regularly travel.
* A willingness to undertake occasional out-of-hours work at evenings and weekends.
* A willingness to learn.
The following are not a requirement but could be an advantage:
* Membership of an appropriate professional organisation.
* Previous experience of heritage interpretation, museums and heritage attractions.
* A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
The post is full time and permanent, subject to a 3 month probationary period. It will be supported by our Senior Project Manager Charlie Curnow and line managed by Imagemakers' MD Jane Sillifant.
We employ a team of 10 staff in the UK and 2 in China, with a head office in Devon, UK.
