Summary of Responsibilities:
PharmacyStore is an Irish-owned community pharmacy group with 5 stores, over 60 employees, and strong ambitions to continue to grow. We are situated in the local communities we serve and understand the importance of what we deliver to our customers and their families. The role is based in Ballycasey Pharmacy, Shannon, Co. Clare. This is a full-time role. A Pharmacy Technician is a key member of the team, providing excellent customer and patient care in accordance with the Pharmacy Technician qualification and requirements. Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Professional Practice:
1. Understand pharmacy practices and procedures, including laws and ethics of dispensing.
2. Operate within PSI controls and regulations.
3. Maintain computer records and ensure paperwork related to schemes is up-to-date and in line with company procedures.
4. Maintain good stock control, including rotation, appropriate stock levels, using correct suppliers, and ensuring accurate delivery details as directed by the managing pharmacist.
5. Maintain standards and cleanliness in the dispensary as directed by the Managing Pharmacist and in line with SOPs.
6. Operate all schemes aligned with requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
7. Be aware of the scope of the Pharmacy Technician role and circumstances requiring referral.
Supply of Medicines:
1. Receive, record, and assemble prescriptions; issue appropriate receipts, collaborating with the Pharmacist on complex or changing prescriptions.
2. Provide over-the-counter medicines, recommending suitable options and referring to the Pharmacist when appropriate.
3. Ensure accuracy in dispensing by monitoring, reviewing, and taking action to minimize errors.
Customer Service:
1. Deal with customers professionally and efficiently, maintaining high customer service standards.
2. Escalate issues to the Duty Manager when appropriate.
3. Make suggestions to improve customer service.
4. Assist with over-the-counter sales and front counter duties.
5. Understand the impact of good customer service on the business.
Organisation & Training:
1. Build strong working relationships within the team to ensure seamless service delivery.
2. Participate in training and development programs and proactively develop job skills.
3. Support personal development to remain qualified, trained, competent, and fit for role.
4. Build competency in scheme requirements.
5. Communicate effectively at all levels, ensuring clarity and understanding.
6. Take ownership of specific projects or initiatives.
7. Collaborate as part of the team, providing support as needed.
Business Acumen:
1. Understand the pharmacy business and the role of the Pharmacy Technician within PharmacyStore Group.
2. Support coverage across various PharmacyStore locations as needed.
3. Understand the budgetary impact of decisions and actions.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
1. Pharmacy Technician Qualification (preferred).
2. Minimum 3 years of pharmacy experience.
3. Strong customer focus.
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
