The Position
Flood plays a critical role in designing and managing flood defense and alleviation projects, ensuring the safety and resilience of communities against flooding events. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality and safety standards
The Senior Civil Engineer - Flood will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design of large‑scale infrastructural projects with a focus on flood defense and alleviation. This role involves overseeing various heavy civil engineering components, such as reinforced concrete works, piling, instream works, bridge works, wall construction, bulk earthworks, road design, drainage design, landscape design, and public realm works. The candidate will also be required to lead small teams and ensure projects are delivered digitally, meeting strict quality criteria.
What You Will Be Doing:
Manage all aspects of flood defense and alleviation design projects, from preliminary high‑level options to comprehensive planning and detailed construction designs. Coordinate with project teams and external parties to ensure smooth project execution
Oversee the design process for large‑scale infrastructural projects, including the use of GIS (QGIS) and direction of work to produce CAD and REVIT detailed construction drawings. Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Lead and mentor small teams, providing guidance and support to team members. Foster a collaborative and productive working environment.
Ensure that all project deliverables meet strict quality criteria. Implement and maintain a Quality Management System throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage contracts for surveys, site investigations, and other third‑party inputs to the design process. Ensure compliance with contractual agreements and project timelines
Monitor and manage compliance with relevant regulations and key performance indicators (KPIs). Take corrective actions when necessary to ensure project success
What You Bring:
Bachelor's degree (Honors) in Civil Engineering (minimum Level 8 qualification).
5 years directly involved in the design process of large infrastructural projects/ Flood. Exceptional candidates with less experience may be considered
Chartered status or equivalent qualification is preferred, but candidates aiming to achieve chartership within 12 months will also be considered
Familiarity with PWC forms of contract is an advantage
Proficiency in GIS (QGIS), CAD and REVIT software
Holders of the post will need to hold a current driver’s licence for Class B vehicles, as travel to and from site will be required.
