The Assistant Director of Nursing is a leadership role that oversees the nursing operations in a healthcare facility. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing and plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

* Provide clinical leadership and direction to the nursing team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards.
\
* Develop and implement strategies to enhance the quality of patient care, improve resident outcomes, and promote person-centred care.
\
* Conduct regular audits to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to address these issues.
\
* Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and guidance related to healthcare services.
\
* Workforce planning and employment decisions including selection, mentoring, and applying appropriate corrective actions.
\
* Support and empower floor managers to effectively manage their roles and responsibilities.
\
* Encourage, mentor, and monitor others for management and clinical decision making.
\
* Analyse performance from business and financial perspectives and assist to achieve financial goals and objectives.
\
* Ensure that risks are proactively identified and support the appropriate persons in ensuring such risks are reported upon and escalated appropriately.
\
* Chair and conduct clinical and governance meetings.
\
Requirements
\
\
* A qualified RGN with at least 3 years experience in the last 6 years in care of the older person.
\
* Not less than 3 years' experience in a management capacity in the health and social care area.
\
* Current registration with NMBI.
\
* A post-registration management qualification in health or a related field.
\
* Post-registration qualification in dementia care and gerontology, highly desirable.
\
* Detailed knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations.
\
* The ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, team members, management, and external bodies.
\
* Strong planning, organisational, people management, and financial management skills.
\
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
