Transport Manager – Distribution

Are you an experienced leader in transport or distribution looking to take the next step in your career. We're now seeking a Transport Manager to oversee operations at a key distribution site and lead a dedicated team committed to excellence.
Duties:
* Lead and motivate a high-performing transport and delivery team.
* Manage day-to-day transport operations to ensure the smooth running of the depot.
* Oversee the accurate and timely dispatch of delivery routes.
* Work closely with sales, operations and transport colleagues to resolve issues quickly.
* Support efficient delivery scheduling and route planning.
* Ensure strict adherence to operational policies, vehicle maintenance standards and safety procedures.
* Drive compliance with industry regulations, including tachograph and Working Time Directive requirements.
* Manage backhaul collections and ensure daily compliance.
* Identify training needs and support team development.
* Maintain high levels of health & safety, security and operational integrity.
Requirements:
* 3+ years' experience in a supervisory or management role within a high-volume, time-sensitive, multi-drop distribution environment.
* Experience in the food distribution industry is an advantage.
* Full driving licence; Management CPC is desirable.
* Strong IT skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
* Proven leadership ability and a passion for delivering great service.
* Confident decision-maker with a hands‑on approach.
* Excellent organisational, planning and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to interpret and present business data clearly.
* Strong knowledge of transport regulations and compliance standards.
* Good understanding of the local area.
* Fluent English (written and spoken).
