What you will be doing
As a Trainee Accountant - Financial Reporting at DM Financial, you’ll get hands-on experience from day one, assisting in preparing financial reports for regulated investment funds and vehicles across multiple jurisdictions – including the US, Ireland, Luxembourg, the UK, Singapore, the Cayman Islands, Australia, France, and Hong Kong. In other words, you’ll be working on real financial statements for clients around the world, building valuable international experience.
You’ll join a growing, technically strong team that delivers high-quality financial reporting services to demanding global clients. It’s a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, but you’ll have a supportive group of mentors and colleagues to help you thrive. This role is all about learning by doing – building a solid foundation for your career in accounting and financial services while contributing to important projects.
* Prepare financial statements for various investment funds and vehicles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
* Draft financial highlights and disclosures for inclusion in quarterly and annual reports.
* Produce periodic management accounts (monthly, quarterly, etc.) for clients to keep them updated on their financial performance.
* Develop supporting schedules and detailed Excel workpapers to back up figures and analyses in the financial statements.
* Liaise with auditors, fund administrators, investment managers, and other service providers to coordinate the audit and reporting process.
* Present completed financial statements for internal review, incorporating feedback and ensuring they meet our quality standards.
* Research and apply technical accounting treatments in complex areas, sharpening your knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP in practice.
What will you need
* An Honours degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (Strong academic performance is a plus – it shows us you’ve got the fundamentals.)
* Great communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be working with both colleagues and clients, so being able to clearly explain numbers and collaborate with others is key.
* The ability to prioritize work and meet tight deadlines. Our environment is fast-paced, and timelines can be demanding, so good time management is essential.
* A self-starter attitude with strong attention to detail. We love team members who take initiative and double-check their work. Little mistakes can have big consequences in financial reports, so an eye for detail will serve you well.
* An academic understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP. If you’ve studied accounting standards in college, that’s an advantage – you’ll be applying those standards in real scenarios here.
* Industry experience or an internship in an accounting or finance role (a plus, but not required). Any practical experience will help you hit the ground running, but we’ll teach you what you need to know if you’re the right fit.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel. You’ll be living in spreadsheets and documents, so being comfortable with Excel formulas, pivot tables, and Word formatting will make your life easier.
* Legal right to work in Ireland. You must have the appropriate work authorization, as this role is based in our Irish offices.
