Purpose of the Role
The BIM Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, production, and management of federated BIM models throughout design and construction stages. Acting as a key link between the design team, site personnel, and BIM Manager, this role ensures models and data align with project-specific Exchange Information Requirements, BIM Execution Plans, and ISO 19650 standards. You will be reporting directly to the BIM Manager.
Your Key Duties as a BIM Coordinator
* Develop, federate, and maintain discipline-specific BIM models in alignment with ISO 19650 workflows and the project’s BEP, ensuring both graphical and non-graphical data meet AIR and EIR requirements.
* Coordinate multi-disciplinary models and resolve clashes using Navisworks, ACC, or project-specific issue-tracking tools, and participate in coordination meetings to update project stakeholders and site teams.
* Generate detailed M&E installation drawings, including service layouts, coordinated plans, riser diagrams, and builder’s works opes.
* Validate models through structured QA/QC reviews, using internal protocols and project-specific checklists, and support the development of the as-built model and COBie handover deliverables.
* Collaborate with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to manage model interfaces and ensure coordination across disciplines.
* Provide BIM support to site teams, acting as a primary point of contact for model queries and field integration.
* Incorporate field validation data (e.g., laser scans, OpenSpace) to align digital models with on-site conditions and ensure model-to-field accuracy.
* Maintain compliance with modelling standards and naming conventions, enforcing metadata structures in line with ISO 19650 and project documentation.
* Manage drawing production workflows and project reporting tools, including trackers, production schedules, and drawing registers.
* Mentor and guide junior team members, including BIM technicians, graduates, and interns, in the use of authoring tools and CDE workflows.
* Contribute to internal BIM strategy development, supporting continuous improvement of digital workflows and promoting digital adoption across stakeholders.
* Evaluate and adapt to emerging tools and project-specific platforms, maintaining flexibility beyond Autodesk-based solutions when required.
Your Education & Experience
* Third level degree/ Trade experience in M+E advantageous
* Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in BIM coordination on medium to large-scale projects, preferably within the M&E sector.
* Working knowledge of ISO 19650-1 & 2 and CDE systems (e.g., Autodesk BIM 360 / ACC, Procore).
* Strong experience with Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and associated BIM tools. Systems outside the Revit environment will also be considered (e.g., Plant 3D, CADworx)
* Experience with fabrication package development – (e.g., EZ Iso, Fabrication parts, StabiCAD) advantageous.
Core Competencies & Skills
* Proficient in federated modelling, clash detection workflows, and structured model data management.
* Familiarity with ISO 19650-based deliverables including the AIM, PIM, COBie, and validation processes.
* Strong collaboration and communication skills across site, design, and consultant interfaces.
* Skilled in producing coordinated installation drawings and managing project documentation.
* Comfortable evaluating and adapting to emerging tools and CDE platforms beyond Revit/Autodesk-based systems.
* Organised, self-directed, and able to prioritise tasks under pressure in live project environments.
