Overview
Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) are recruiting for Relief Social Care Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for a new challenge. The post holder will take part in day-to-day operations to reflect the ethos and vision of CCoI and ensure co-workers meet the needs of individuals supported by the services.
The person appointed will be part of a day and residential support team who will work with individuals to identify what constitutes a good life and the supports needed to achieve goals. The role requires partnership with the social care team and important people in the individual's life, and flexibility regarding timing and location of supports based on the individual's plan. The post holder should be able to participate proactively as a team member and contribute to ongoing development of teamwork.
Responsibilities
1. Advocacy & Rights
* Respect each person who uses the services as an equal citizen.
* Uphold and respect human, legal and constitutional rights, recognise individuality and equality, and empower autonomy.
* Facilitate and develop choice, decision-making, self-advocacy, and involvement in advocacy.
* Enable individuals to pursue personal hobbies and interests.
* Foster self-help and social skills to maximise autonomy.
* Facilitate community participation through generic facilities.
1. Person Centred Support for Living
* Ensure a person-centred approach to service delivery.
* Support individuals with aspects of person-centred plans including occupation and leisure, communication, behaviour support plans, independent living skills, social integration, personal care, and personal development.
* Assist in developing self-care skills, personal hygiene, health matters, and personal appearance.
* Support with physical and personal care needs (moving and handling, fire safety, cleaning, laundry, infection control, mobility, communication, dressing, bathing, toileting, eating, sleep, skin care, first aid, health promotion).
* Attend medical appointments as required.
* Ensure a healthy and nutritious diet aligned with individual choices.
* Encourage full participation in home life while maintaining standards of the home and environs with comprehensive, person-centred support.
* Implement and review person-centred plans in consultation with the individual and participate in resident reviews.
* Achieve competency in driving centre transport and participate in transport duties as required (flexible start/finish times possible).
* As a full team member, accept delegated responsibility for physical and emotional well-being and personal hygiene of individuals.
* Assist with organising centre outings.
2. Management and Leadership
* Be responsible for physical and emotional well-being of individuals supported.
* Be responsible for safe use and care of equipment; report faults.
* Contribute to the team with consistent, quality support for vulnerable adults.
* Adhere to policies, procedures, and codes of practice.
* Keep records up to date and managed in the service’s records system.
* Ensure reports, timesheets and financial statements are accurate and submitted on time.
* Maintain complete and accurate records for each person (needs assessments, risk assessments, incidents, notifiable events, file notes, communication plans, behavioural management, health action plans, medication management, and financial records).
* Report concerns promptly to the Person in Charge (PIC) and document accidents/incidents with appropriate action.
* Utilise transport services efficiently and advise staff on transport needs.
3. Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
* Hold a minimum of a QQI Level 5 Major Award on the QQI Framework or equivalent qualification in Community/Health or Social Care (e.g., BA in Social Care Studies).
* Have 1 year’s experience working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
* Understand current policy and developments in social care for disability services.
* Ability to follow plans to meet ongoing needs; effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
* Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
* Full driving licence and own car is essential.

5. Details of the Role
* Salary Scale: €30,272 per annum (based on a 40 hour week) PRO RATA
* Location: Camphill Community Ballybay, A75EO65
* Duration: Relief Contract - Fixed term one year minimum of 8 hours per month
