The INFANT Research Centre at University College Cork (UCC) is dedicated to maternal and child health research. The overarching vision of INFANT is to advance maternal and child health translational research and to place Ireland at the forefront of this field. INFANT focuses on scientific excellence and impact through academic, translational, and commercial activities.
INFANT is accepting applications for a Data Analyst with skills in data analysis, management, systems analysis, and declarative development to work on the Elevate Programme. The programme aims to prevent, detect early, and treat brain injury and cerebral palsy (CP) in infants during the peak neuroplasticity period (up to 2 years of age). Funded by Research Ireland and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation via the SFI Strategic Partnership Programme, it involves:
* Using Machine Learning to identify risk factors for CP in pregnancy, labour, and neonatal periods, working with clinical experts to analyze and visualize data, and recommend improvements.
* Developing a research database for infants with CP or high risk, specifying requirements, and developing in REDCap, ensuring efficient data use across studies.
* Collaborating with clinical experts to define minimal datasets and integrating with the Maternal and Newborn Clinical Management System (MN-CMS).
* Supporting REDCap, data analysis, and machine learning tasks.
* Creating research databases and interfaces, supporting workshops, and developing software specifications for system integration.
* Analyzing datasets, applying machine learning techniques, and contributing to research publications.
* Ensuring documentation quality and maintaining stakeholder communication.
* Engaging with public and patient involvement panels and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
* Supporting research activities, equipment management, and collaborative efforts within and outside UCC.
Required qualifications include a relevant graduate degree (BSc, MSc, PhD), experience with declarative programming platforms (e.g., REDCap, Salesforce), knowledge of database design, data analysis, AI, software practices, and workshop facilitation. Proven research experience, stakeholder interaction skills, independence, team collaboration, attention to detail, and excellent communication are essential.
