Job Description Summary
We are looking for a Global Automation & Digital Manager to join our Engineering & Transformation (E&T) – Automation & Digital team as a key leader driving innovation across our global Pharmaceutical Diagnostics manufacturing sites. In this strategic role, you will serve as the subject matter expert for automation and digitalization in “the make,” leading the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies and smart manufacturing solutions. Reporting to the Europe-based Automation & Digital Leader, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams worldwide to shape and execute a forward-thinking digital strategy that transforms operations and delivers measurable impact.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for Advanced Automation blueprint design across PDx
* Work closely with E&T and NPI teams to build roadmaps for Visual Inspection, Robotics, Process Analytical Technology, Plant Modernization, etc.
* Lead Plant Modernization exercises for PDx from Automation & Digital
* Build a knowledge sharing community & partnership in automation that defines, implements, and sustains global standards and processes.
* Advocate for harmonization in technologies and processes to foster replication and knowledge sharing.
* Own technology guidelines and ensure standards are developed and communicated.
* Develop and nurture core competencies of automation and digital personnel at sites.
* Assess PDx’s technology and automation landscape across the network.
* Identify opportunities for new technology introduction, assess productivity potential, define blueprints, and prepare project rollouts.
* Enable manufacturing sites to achieve world-class OEE and TPM standards with Plant Wide Historian and equipment connectivity.
* Manage and drive contractors and external vendors.
* Support sites in selecting and developing automation and digital talent.
Qualifications And Requirements
* Proven leadership in automation and digital transformation with experience in manufacturing sites.
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
* Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
* Significant GMP manufacturing experience, preferably in sterile/aseptic fill & finish and radiopharmaceuticals.
* Deep knowledge of Industry 4.0 disciplines in Pharma Manufacturing, especially Visual Inspection, Robotics, Process Analytical Technology, or Plant Modernization.
* 8+ years in global automation and digital roles supporting multiple sites.
* Strong communication, influencing, and coaching skills.
* Extended GxP and HSE knowledge relevant to new technologies.
* Strategic thinking with the ability to develop and implement strategies.
* Willingness to travel globally (30-40%).
