Job Title: Acute Hospital Speech and Language Therapist
About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapy team in a leading hospital. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a well-established SLT team, assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders for adult inpatients.
The successful candidate will have expertise in conducting detailed assessments, managing a diverse caseload, and delivering evidence-based dysphagia interventions. They will also be responsible for collaborating with the medical, nursing, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy teams to ensure holistic care.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients with communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing difficulties
* Manage a caseload including elderly patients and those with neurological conditions (stroke, brain injury, progressive neurological disease)
* Deliver tailored dysphagia interventions, maintaining best practice standards
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide seamless patient care
* Provide education and training for staff, patients, and families on communication and swallowing strategies
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to clinical audits and service improvement projects
* Actively participate in supervision and continuous professional development activities
Required Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess a recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy, CORU registration, and experience in acute care settings. A dysphagia qualification and experience in neurological rehabilitation, stroke care, and/or orthopaedics are highly desirable. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for this role.
