Role Profile
Based in Ballyragget and reporting to the QC Chemistry Laboratory Manager, this role involves working with a team of Technicians, Quality Managers, and staff to perform chemical analyses of food products. Candidates with chemistry experience or aptitude will be considered. This is a shift-based Laboratory Technician role, with 12-hour shifts over a fortnight, including weekends and bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct analysis of dairy products such as cheese, butter, and dairy powders using approved methods.
* Ensure compliance with internationally recognized standards.
* Participate in internal and external proficiency testing.
* Utilize LIMS for all laboratory activities.
* Review and document investigations as part of the CAPA program.
* Validate test methods and assist with new instrument commissioning and projects.
* Conduct internal audits of quality systems.
* Perform analysis for parameters like fat, moisture, protein, and salt using reference and NIR methods.
* Conduct environmental testing of wastewater.
* Perform sensory analysis of final products.
* Manage samples: sampling, receipt, and preparation.
* Adhere to and contribute to health and safety policies.
* Train new Technician team members.
* Perform other QC-related tasks as needed.
Key Requirements
* BSc in Food Science, Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
* Excellent IT skills; experience with LIMS and statistical analysis is desirable.
* Ability to interpret test data and solve problems.
* Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Willingness to undertake further training and development.
* Proven initiative and team collaboration skills.
* Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S is an advantage.
