We are seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist who is passionate about empowering adults to live fulfilling and independent lives.
Excel Healthcare is recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to take up a part time permanent position within a well-established Adult Disability team in Limerick. This part time permanent pensionable position comes with all the benefits, in line with the HSE.
The successful Occupational Therapist will work with adults with intellectual disabilities and complex needs, including physical, sensory, and learning disabilities. You will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, and Psychologists. You will have regular training, CPD, supervision, and career development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide assessment, planning, intervention, and review of occupational therapy programmes tailored to adults with intellectual disabilities.
2. Deliver needs-based, outcome-focused care guided by the Individual Support Plan (ISP).
3. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated care and goal setting.
4. Maintain professional standards in assessment, documentation, reporting, and service delivery.
5. Uphold best practice in line with HSE policies and HIQA standards.
6. Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in practice and the workplace.
Essential Requirements
7. BSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent recognised qualification).
8. CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
9. Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, at least 1 year working with adults with intellectual disabilities.
10. Proven track record of working with adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and complex needs.
11. Previous experience in leading, supervising, or mentoring junior Occupational Therapists, students, or support staff.
12. Ability to manage a varied caseload while ensuring high standards of assessment, intervention, and documentation.
13. Strong knowledge of HSE policies and HIQA standards.
14. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with adults, families, and multidisciplinary team members
15. Full driving licence and access to a car.
