How You'll Perform The Role
Waddington Europe has a vacancy for a Production Manager to work for Waddington Europe - Arklow site.
Be responsible for the management of all resources (staff & production) within the Thermoforming Department.
Ensure the quality of the product produced, service delivery is at the required standard and working within the Company's accredited standards and health and safety requirements.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in management and manufacturing and if you have knowledge of thermoforming, plastics or packaging this would be advantageous.
You would preferably be a someone who is always looking for ways to improve, have excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure and a positive and motivating attitude.
This role is available working 7.5 hours per day, Monday - Friday full time, on a 6 month fixed term contract with an opportunity to be extended.
What We Need From You
Production
Ensure optimum use of available resources (labor, material, and equipment) to achieve the output for each shift, in line with the company production plan.
Identify positive and negative variances from the production plan and take action to correct any shortfalls within production.
Where corrective action is not possible within the shift, advise the Management Team of the issue and subsequent product hold situation.
Ensure that adequate information on the output of each shift is recorded to enable production planning to take the latest information into account for performance analysis.
Control costs within levels laid down by the Operations Manager
Initiate corrective action within the Management Team through the daily meetings within all Departments
Manage departmental budget spend by tracking staff overtime spend, machinery costs etc.
Create operation review reports as required covering
the metrics relating to Thermoforming manufacturing.
Quality & Hygiene
Conduct regular checks to maintain the required quality levels investigating deficiencies and taking corrective action.
Ensure all Company hygiene regulations and procedures are followed and adhered to.
Supervision of departmental clean-ups as per procedure on rotational basis.
Ensure all areas are working to the Company 'Clean-as-you-go' Policy.
Abide by the company's environmental and quality management procedures.
Staff Management
Oversee the day-to-day management of the Thermoforming staff in conjunction with the Shift Managers.
Deal with all administrative aspects of the thermoforming team including staff rostering, conflict/complaints management and performance appraisals etc.
Ensure that each shift manager assumes responsibility for recording and monitoring staff absence/leave/time in accordance company policy while ensuring the service area is adequately covered.
Lead by example to ensure the production department is professional, punctual, and dedicated team.
Have the ability to implement and manage change.
In conjunction with the Shift Managers, and the site management team keep staff briefed on developments and changes within the Company.
Help create and promote open communications and healthy working relationships among staff.
Recruit, select, train, and motivate staff to ensure that the required activities are carried out cost effectively whilst maintaining good employment relations.
Ensure that staff throughout the area of responsibility understand and comply with safe working practices whilst on the Company's business.
Ensure that all staff within Thermoforming fully understand the Company's procedures and rules and operate these fairly.
General
Drive & improve weekly Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for the Thermoforming Department.
As appropriate, prepare Capex applications suitable for presentation to senior management.
Develop CI projects to support the business development.
Carry out any reasonable duties as requested by the Operations Manager/Senior Company Management that are within your abilities, irrespective of grade/skill level.
