About the role: The Procurement Manager will lead the creation and development of a new procurement function within Flogas Ireland. This role will be responsible for establishing procurement strategy, policies, and processes across the business to deliver best-in-class sourcing, cost optimisation, supplier governance, and risk management. The successful candidate will act as a strategic partner to operational, commercial, finance, and technical teams, ensuring that procurement enables growth, supports sustainability goals, and strengthens supply chain resilience. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Procurement Leadership Design and implement the procurement strategy for Flogas Ireland, aligning with group and business objectives. Build and formalise procurement processes, procedures, and governance frameworks for a newly established function. Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to drive cost efficiencies, supply assurance, and continuous improvement. Establish category management approach across key spend areas (e.g., energy equipment, logistics, fleet, engineering services, construction, technology, corporate services). Supplier & Contract Management Develop a robust supplier selection, onboarding, and qualification process. Create and maintain a preferred supplier list and implement supplier performance scorecards. Lead contract negotiation and ensure compliance with legal, commercial, and regulatory requirements. Manage contract renewals, renegotiations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Financial & Commercial Management Deliver annual cost savings, value creation, and procurement performance reporting. Implement spend analytics, forecasting, and procurement KPIs. Work closely with Finance to support budget planning and cost controls. Identify opportunities to consolidate suppliers, reduce duplication, and optimise total cost of ownership. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Operations, Engineering, Energy Solutions, Sales, and Finance to understand business needs and project pipelines. Support major capital projects through early procurement engagement. Provide subject matter expertise for tendering, specifications, and contract drafting. Promote a culture of competitive sourcing and procurement discipline across the organisation. Risk, Compliance & Sustainability Develop processes to manage procurement risk (supply, financial, ESG, and operational). Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and relevant regulatory frameworks. Drive sustainability within the supply chain in line with the organisations environmental commitments. Lead procurement input for internal and external audits. Team & Capability Development (Future) Define future resource requirements as the procurement function scales. Mentor colleagues involved in procurement activity across the business to ensure consistent standards. Potential to build and manage a small procurement team over time. Candidate Profile: Minimum 35 years procurement experience, ideally within energy, utilities, engineering, construction, industrial services, or similar sectors. Strong track record of implementing procurement best practices and delivering measurable cost/value benefits. Experience leading supplier negotiations, contract drafting, and commercial governance. Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillscomfortable with data, spend analytics, and business cases. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills. Ability to work autonomously and build a new function from the ground up.
