The Opportunity
We're at the forefront of building AI agents for risk teams here at Inscribe. We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about developing innovative AI solutions that solve real customer problems to join us on this journey. You will contribute to both frontend and backend development. You'll also get into the data, talk and listen to our customers, and help shape the direction of our product. This role offers the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art technology with a team that values experimentation, support, and speed. While we are primarily remote within the area, we do have a WeWork space to get together in-person.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the design and implementation of platform architecture to help ensure the product is scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-efficient.
* Build and maintain backend platform components, including Python services, APIs, async workers, and LLM-powered workflows.
* Implement infrastructure automation, such as provisioning, CI/CD improvements, configuration management, and environment consistency.
* Enhance reliability and observability, including monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards, and participation in defining SLIs/SLOs.
* Develop and maintain robust data storage patterns in PostgreSQL, including schema changes, query tuning, and performance troubleshooting.
* Apply security best practices across infrastructure and application layers, including secrets management, IAM usage, and secure network design.
* Collaborate with backend, product, and frontend teams to ensure reliable delivery and smooth platform integrations.
* Participate in incident response and postmortems, helping identify root causes and implement long-term fixes.
* Contribute to performance and scalability improvements, identifying bottlenecks and implementing practical solutions.
* Help evaluate new tools and technologies, advocating for options that balance innovation with maintainability and business needs.
About You
* Hands-on experience with AWS, ideally including ECS/EKS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, CloudFormation/Terraform, S3, and VPC networking.
* Proficient in Python, with experience building production systems
* Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including queries, indexes, schema design, and general performance tuning.
* Hands-on experience with modern DevOps tooling, including Docker, CI/CD systems, and observability platforms.
* Understanding of scalable system design and familiarity with building reliable, highly available services.
* Experience participating in incident response, debugging production issues, and proposing improvements.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Interview Process
1. Initial Screen with the Hiring Manager to share your experience (45 minutes)
2. Check In Call with the Head of People to understand your motivations and expectations (30 minutes)
3. Take Home Technical Exercise followed by a live discussion with 1-2 team members to assess your technical ability (1 hour)
4. Meet our Co-founder (CTO) to discuss Inscribe's vision and align on values (45 minutes)
5. Final candidates will have the chance to meet with our other Co-founder (CEO) to answer any lingering questions about the opportunity (30 minutes)
