Position DescriptionThe role of the Forestry Harvesting Manager is the management of all Contractor delivered forestry harvesting requirements in ESB Networks. The role will, as required, draw together, lead and motivate a skilled team to deliver the specified projects in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner using both staff and external contractors.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, influence and manage strategy and organisation change to optimise business performanceDrive business performance and achievements of targetsDevelop, implement and manage business plans and policiesDevelop and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders by ensuring a culture of open communicationMotivate and assist teams and individuals to achieve business goals through regular performance conversationsIdentify and proactively manage changes that are necessary in the organisationPromote team working in an open and communicative environmentProactively manages all relevant information within and outside own business areaEssentialKnowledge, Skills, and ExperienceOver 7 years' experience of relevant overhead lines or utilities timber cuttingKnowledge of Network AssetsProject Management ExperienceQuality control ExperienceKnowledge of Invoice payment & procurement rulesExperience of Contractor ManagementExperience of producing high quality standards and procedural documentationExperience of Managing contractor or staff safetyESB safety requirements for timber contractorsExcellent communication, problem solving and report writing skillsExperience and knowledge of IT systems associated with the roleQualifications3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience (of a minimum of 7 years) is essential.LocationLocation of base is flexible for the successful candidate, but travel is a requirement of the role.ESB is committed to offering flexibility in ways of working and we call that Smart Working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible and remote ways of working.The successful candidate may combine remote / smart working within the jurisdiction, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and subject to ongoing review.ESB is one of the founding members of The Remote Alliance – a new initiative established by the social enterprise Grow Remote.
