Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Wintel Server Engineer / Administrator
to join our IT Infrastructure team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining secure, stable, and high-performing
Windows Server environments
(on-premises and hybrid Azure), providing technical support, and contributing to infrastructure modernisation projects.
Responsibilities
Stable and Secure Infrastructure Operations
– Ensure availability, integrity, and performance of Windows Server environments (on-prem and Azure hybrid).
Apply system patches, monitoring, and compliance with IT security and administration policies.
Active Directory & Identity Services
– Manage and maintain AD structures, Group Policies, user accounts, and access controls.
Exchange Online & Microsoft 365 Support
– Administer user mailboxes, distribution lists, shared mailboxes, and mail flow.
Monitor and resolve issues with delivery, retention policies, and anti-spam.
Manage Azure VMs, identity & access (IAM), networking, and resource governance.
Security & SSL Management
– Maintain SSL certificate inventory, ensuring renewals and secure configuration.
Implement server/cloud-based cybersecurity controls and vulnerability remediation.
Support and optimise VMware vSphere or Hyper-V environments, including resource allocation and monitoring.
Desktop Deployment & Device Setup
– Build and maintain desktop/laptop images using ManageEngine or Intune Autopilot.
User Support via Service Desk
– Respond to escalated service desk incidents and requests, delivering high-quality technical support.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
– Ensure systems are backed up, tested, and recovery procedures are documented.
Documentation & Reporting
– Maintain accurate system records, operational procedures, and change logs.
Provide regular updates to the IT Manager or project lead.
Infrastructure Projects
– Support digital transformation and infrastructure modernisation initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience supporting and administering Microsoft infrastructure in enterprise environments.
Strong expertise in SSL management and cloud backup solutions
Cybersecurity best practices
Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong documentation and attention to detail.
PowerShell scripting for automation.
Familiarity with ITIL processes.
Experience in public sector or regulated environments.
