JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Warehouse Operative - Port Storage FacilityRole OverviewWe are seeking a versatile Warehouse Operative to join our team operating animal feed and grain storage facilities at a busy port. This unique role combines computer-based weighbridge operations with hands-on warehouse duties.Key ResponsibilitiesWeighbridge AdministrationGreet drivers and process vehicle documentationOperate computerised weighbridge system to weigh HGV vehicles and trailersMaintain accurate records for stock control, traceability, quality control and billingHandle routine IT tasks: managing emails, saving/forwarding PDFs and attachments, organising digital filesLiaise with product owners to ensure correct orders and quantitiesWarehouse OperationsMonitor product quality through temperature checking of stockpiles.Perform general housekeeping: maintaining clean stores, yards and work areas.Assist with cargo handling as per customer requirements.Support equipment maintenance and facility upkeep.Flexibility Advantage: Operate wheeled loading shovels (up to Volvo L150 size) to provide cover during breaks, holidays, and busy periods.Working ConditionsHours: Typically, Monday-FridayOvertime: Extended hours and weekend work required during ship operations - periods of high intensity followed by quieter phasesEnvironment: Mix of office-based weighbridge work and outdoor store and yard dutiesSafety: Full PPE environment (high-visibility clothing, safety footwear mandatory)Physical demands: Moderate - includes climbing stockpiles.Ideal CandidateComputer proficiency: Comfortable with Microsoft Office level software – willing and able to learn weighbridge system.Practical attitude: Willing to perform all duties from computer work to cleaning and maintenanceMachinery aptitude: Experience with agricultural equipment or construction plant advantageous (training provided for the right candidate)Team flexibility: Able to cover various roles within our site staffWhat We OfferTraining and certification support for machinery operationOpportunity to develop diverse skills in a specialised port environmentTeam StructureYou'll work as part of a small, multi-skilled team, supporting efficient operations across storage facilities.This role suits someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in accuracy, and thrives in a hands-on environment where computer skills and practical abilities are equally valued.
