Senior Professional Engineer, Mechanical

A brighter, zero carbon future awaits. The Senior Electrical (Cables) or Energy Systems Engineer will play a key role in the delivery of engineering projects for ESB. This role involves close collaboration with design teams, ESB partners, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead conceptual design of high voltage cable projects and interfaces with substations and overhead line equipment.
Lead detailed design including cable ratings and bonding systems.
Conduct due diligence of internal and external designs to ensure compliance with relevant specifications.
Develop and maintain design risk assessments for all engineering deliverables.
Mentor and support junior staff development, cultivate technical capability across the group.
Co‑ordinate with internal and external stakeholders to progress projects through all lifecycle stages and governance gates.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Level 8 Electrical or Energy Systems Engineering Degree or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of relevant electrical or mechanical engineering experience.
High level of specialist expertise and strong technical capability.
Proven ability to manage significant projects or key aspects of projects.
Strong safety awareness and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license for ROI, access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwide.
Desirable
Chartered status or working towards it in a recognised professional institution.
Experience in utility or linear infrastructure projects, manufacturing or contracting.
Strong commercial and project management skills.
Experience in performing the role of designer and/ or PSDP on projects.
Location
This position will be based in ESB E&MP’s Offices in Dublin or Eastgate Cork.

Salary
€57,000 to €68,000 per annum
