Circet Ireland & UK is seeking a Utilities Designer to join our growing Data Center Design Department in Letterkenny on a 12 month fixed term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a background in building services, architectural design, or engineering who are keen to contribute to the development of cutting-edge digital infrastructure.
In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and planning of structured cabling and network systems within high-performance data center environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and layout structured cabling systems and network infrastructure for data center builds and upgrades.
* Interpret technical drawings, floorplans, and specifications to produce accurate network designs.
* Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and external contractors to ensure project success.
* Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, layout drawings, and design packs.
* Conduct site visits and assessments to ensure feasibility and compliance with design requirements.
* Support troubleshooting efforts and redesigns where network modifications are required.
* Generate detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) from design specifications.
* Coordinate design work using Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection and 3D model integration.
* Stay up-to-date on data center design trends, tools, and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
* Degree in one of the following or related fields:
o Building Services Engineering
o Architectural Technology
o Architecture
o Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering
o Construction Management or Construction Technology
* Experience in structured cabling design, network planning, or data center environments.
* Familiarity with BIM/Revit, particularly producing LOD500 designs.
* Knowledge of BICSI standards and/or RCDD certification.
* Understanding of M&E (Mechanical and Electrical) services in a data center context.
* GIS experience is a plus.
