Job Description
Accelerate Your Career in Irish Infrastructure
Start here. Go further here.
Join AECOM's thriving Surface Transportation Team in Ireland—a 150+ strong professional network operating across Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Belfast. Due to significant growth fueled by a robust pipeline of major Greenways, Active Travel, and Public Transport programmes.
We're seeking an enthusiastic and driven Senior Roads, Civil, or Infrastructure Engineer with industry experience to join our expanding team.
This is a chance to move beyond routine design and play a crucial role in delivering complex, high-impact national infrastructure.
Why AECOM in Ireland?

Impactful Projects:

Major Road Schemes: M21 Adare Bypass, Carlow Southern Relief Road & Multi Modal Corridor, N4 Mullingar to Longford.
Sustainable & Active Travel: Delivery teams for the TII Luas Programme, the NTA BusConnects Programme, and a vast programme of Greenways (>300km) for TII and Local Authorities, including major schemes in West Cork and Donegal.
Multidisciplinary Exposure: Gain hands‑on experience across the entire project lifecycle, from early feasibility and statutory consent through to detailed design, construction support, and contract administration.

Structured Career Progression: We are deeply committed to your professional trajectory. The successful candidate will be actively supported on their path to achieving Chartered Engineer status (IEI/ICE) in the coming years, benefiting from mentorship, coaching, formal training through AECOM University, and exposure to client account management and work‑winning processes.

We prioritise candidates with the right behaviours and drive over specific current skillsets, investing significantly in training the next generation of engineers.
Your Role & Responsibilities

Prepare and coordinate design packages for complex infrastructure programmes across a range of projects including major highways (TII Publications), bus infrastructure (NTA standards), and active travel schemes (DMURS/NTA Cycle Design Manual). Current projects range from concept to construction stage.
Ensure all project deliverables meet AECOM quality standards and are managed effectively to time and budget.
Work seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team, interrogating outputs from other disciplines (e.g., drainage, structures, environmental).
Work directly with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders, guiding them through technical challenges and statutory approval processes (Part 8 / ABP / SID / EIA).
Support and coach junior engineers, contributing to AECOM’s culture of growth and continuous learning.

What We Offer

Flexible hybrid working.
Professional development support, mentorship schemes, and training agreements with major engineering institutions.
Career development opportunities via AECOM University, technical practice networks, and volunteering days.
A range of core and personalised benefits tailored to your lifestyle and well‑being.
Charity & Community Activities: fundraising challenges, sponsored walks/runs, STEM outreach days, and local volunteering initiatives.
Wellbeing Events: yoga sessions, wellness weeks, lunchtime walks/cycles, and mental health awareness activities.
Sports & Clubs: five‑a‑side football, cycling groups, hiking clubs, participation in corporate challenge events.
Annual Celebrations: summer events, holiday celebrations, and recognition awards.
