Company Description
The Institute of Medicine, RCPI is responsible for the strategic development of the General Medicine Membership exam and oversight of the delivery of all aspects (part I, part II written, part II clinical) of the exam.
The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland is a postgraduate medical training college dedicated to ensuring that doctors have the skills to provide patients with the best possible care. Job Description
We invite expressions of interest from suitably qualified consultants in General/Internal Medicine for appointment as new members of the General Medicine Written Examination Boards. The Board plays a vital role in providing strategic leadership, supporting clinical excellence, and guiding initiatives that enhance patient care, professional standards, and service development within the specialty. We are seeking motivated individuals who are committed to contributing their expertise, insight, and leadership to this important work.
Responsibilities

Support ongoing development of the General Medicine written examinations
Attend Board meetings as per the RCPI Rules and Procedures for Boards and Committees
Meet after each diet of the General Medicine examinations to agree and sign off on results
Prepare and review examination papers for use in the written examinations
Be responsible for policy, regulatory and academic matters relating to the examinations
Engage collaboratively with fellow Board Members and stakeholders
Comply with College Examination Regulations, and adapt to changes in Regulations made by the College

Requirements

Be registered consultants in General/Internal Medicine in Ireland
Members or Fellows of the College in good standing with the College
Demonstrate a strong interest in leadership, governance, and service development
Have experience in clinical practice, teaching, research, or quality improvement
Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills

Time Commitment
The General Medicine Written Boards typically convene between three and six times per year; however, the exact frequency may vary in accordance with operational needs.
