About Your New Job Lead New Product Introductions: Oversee the introduction of new products to the site from a process safety perspective.
Safe Process Design and Review: Evaluate and design safety systems, including emergency shutdown systems, pressure relief devices (PRDs), fire protection, and explosion prevention systems.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and further improve emergency response and preparedness capabilities.
HAZOP Assessments: Chair and document process and equipment HAZOP assessments and other process safety-related risk assessments, driving follow-up actions.
Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR): Complete PSSRs in line with company standards Process Safety Management: Manage process safety elements associated with running product campaigns on the plant, ensuring effective process management.
Improvements and Modifications: Propose, develop, and implement process safety improvements and modifications to process areas and equipment.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant legal, site, corporate, and industrial standards.
Management of Change (MOC): Interact with the MOC and change control system, approving from an EHS perspective.
Safety Investigations: Support safety investigations throughout the site and troubleshoot related process safety issues.
Documentation and Training: Review and approve process safety-related documentation and provide relevant training to colleagues.
Safety Audits: Conduct safety audits and continuously improve the site safety management systems.
What Skills You Need Educational Background: A bachelors degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in a process-related industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical).
Process Safety Knowledge: Strong knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles, risk assessment methodologies (HAZOP, LOPA, etc.), ATEX and COMAH principles, and relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC for functional safety).
Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Certifications: Chartered Engineer status or TUV Rheinland/equivalent certification in Functional Safety would be an advantage.
