Irish Bioenergy Association (IrBEA)Job Specification for recruitment of a Project ExecutiveThe Irish Bioenergy Association (IrBEA) is the representative body for the bioenergy industry on the island of Ireland. IrBEA works on behalf of its members across the sectors of biomass, biogas/biomethane, biofuels, biochar, wood fuels and energy crops. IrBEA is recognised by Government and key stakeholders as the voice of the bioenergy industry. The organisation's activities are managed by the CEO, assisted by a small executive staff team. IrBEA is governed by a board of directors which includes an elected President and Vice President. Policy direction is provided by a Council of members with a number of specific sectoral policy groups. IrBEA manages and administers the Wood Fuel Quality Assurance Scheme (WFQA) and is currently involved in the delivery of several bioenergy research and development projects. Further details of the organisation are available at Role Summary:The Irish Bioenergy Association (IrBEA) is seeking to recruit an organised and committed Project Executive to assist with the delivery of the organisations work programme. This role provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to work on research and development projects, policy development, member development and recruitment, promotional activities and stakeholder engagement. Specific duties will be assigned depending on the organisation's workload and at the discretion of the CEO.Role Description and Details:Job Title:Project ExecutiveEmployer:Irish Bioenergy Association (IrBEA)Place of Work:This role will largely involve remote working, with an element of travel for the remaining time. Remote office work supported. The role will require flexibility for some national travel for events and membership/stakeholder engagement and occasional international travel for project meetings and delivery.Job TypeFull time, Monday to Friday standard weekSalary Guide:Salary range €38,000 to €44,000 per annum – competitive salary and package depending on experienceContract Type:2-year fixed term contract subject to completion of satisfactory 6-month probationary periodReporting To:IrBEA CEODeadline for applications:Monday 26th January 2026 at 12 noon.Expected start date:ImmediateNote: It is the intention of the Irish Bioenergy Association that a panel will be formed from this recruitment process. This panel will be used to fill any executive staff team vacancies arising within the organisation over the next six months.Essential Duties:Duties will be varied and will include but not limited to:· Working with the CEO and other IrBEA executive staff team members in the daily implementation of IrBEA research, development and demonstration (RD&D) projects (Interreg NWE, SEAI, JTF, Horizon, Erasmus + other funded projects as they arise), work packages and tasks, including the facilitation of further spin off work as part of the project activity dissemination, communication, and exploitation/replication activities· Contribute to the development of all aspects of the association including membership, stakeholder engagement, policy and communications activities· Input into the development of policy proposals across all the bioenergy sectors in conjunction with IrBEA members, CEO and the executive team· Undertaking promotional activities and stakeholder engagement by being part of the IrBEA team at trade events, attendance at conferences and events· Supporting IrBEA in seeking additional funding, members and partnering opportunities· Assisting with the organising of IrBEA and project related events· Liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, spanning all the bioenergy sectorsOther Duties and Responsibilities· All employees are expected to be flexible and support activities outside their specific role where required· A positive attitude toward the work, enthusiasm and willing to work as part of a cross-functional team· Strong customer focus in line with IrBEA values and commitment to membersKnowledge / Skills and ExperienceQualifications and Experience:Third level honours qualification in engineering, science or a relevant related areaExperience in renewable energy, RD&D project delivery, projects planning, membership engagement, business / membership development, event planning and policy development are an advantage and desirable but not all essentialFull driving license and use of own car is desirableKey Competencies:Accuracy and attention to detailAbility to work unsupervised and to take ownership of queries and/or issues, bringing them to a successful conclusionProfessional and consistent work habits, great work ethic and motivated to achieve goalsExcellent communication, interpersonal, writing, problem-solving and networking skillsWritten and spoken English proficiencyExcellent IT technical knowledgeFocused on outcomes with excellent organisational skills and attention to detailAbility to cope with tight deadlines and work effectively within a dynamic and diverse staff team which work remotelyAbility to network and build relationships with relevant stakeholders, partners, and membersTeam spirited but with the ability to work independently and remotelyUnderstanding of the role of a representative and membership organisationCommitment to the purpose of the Irish Bioenergy Association and to work within the values, policies, structures, and procedures of the organisationTo act consistently in a professional mannerTo undertake other duties as may be directed by the Chief Executive of IrBEAOther information for the role:References: The successful candidate will undergo two reference checks before commencing employment with IrBEA.
